Apply Password On Documents
Want to protect your important files or folders from nosy family members or colleagues? A basic tip to protect your files is to apply passwords to restrict unauthorized users for opening a document or folder.
MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint (2000/2002/2003):
Click on Tools>Options. Click the Security tab. Next, in the Password to Open box, set a password to permit access to the document. Once you have clicked ‘OK’, you'll be asked to re-enter the password in order to apply the setting.
MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint (2007):
Click the Microsoft Office Button & point to the Prepare option from the drop down menu. Click Encrypt Document, & in the window that appears, type the password that will be required to access to the document. You'll be asked to re-enter the password in order to apply it.
MS Access (2000/2002/2003):
Click Tools>Security> Set Database Passwords. Type the password in the Dialog box, type it again to confirm it, & click OK.
MS Access (2007):
Launch MS Access 2007. Open the database that you want to password protect in Exclusivemode. To do so, go to the open dialog box, select the file that you want to open. Click the arrow next to the Open button, & then click Open Exclusive. On the Database Tools tab, select Encrypt with password from the Database Tools group. Type your password in the dialog box, type it again in the verify text box & click OK to set the password.
Select info option from the file menu. From the Permission button, click Protect Document/Workbook/Presentation. Click Encrypt with password& set the password.
